Morning  -

I have a 1988 280GE W460 and a while back the tailgate lever  broke (unsure what the actual term/name is but I have been using a strap so that the tailgate dosent swing totaly open) and I can not find a suitable replacement (MB have told me that the original OE was A0007600038is no longer available).

The actual part that is bolted to the inside of the tailgate is fine (I think)- numbered 5 in the attached)

Would value any suggestions and/or any idea where I could buy one?

Thanks

Henry

Hello Henry,

It is usually the rod (11) breaks off,  if you have the stud and roller, have it rewelded.

Alternatively, please furnish me with your full chassis number and I can check with Austria if they have one in stock.

Hi and thanks for getting back  to me- regrettably I dont have the 'stud' but I was thinking of asking the localmechanic to cut me a piece of steel that could then be welded on but I dont have the other bit  (17/14/20).

If you have a contact in Austria maybe they could check? I would be grateful.

Best H

Try Kurth Classics in Germany

Good website with clear pictures and great service

They have re-manufactured this part

Not cheap at circa £100 with rollers

but better than a fubar door!
