1991 W463 LWB 300GEL fuel leak
I was getting some bodywork done on my 300GEL 1991 W463 LWB and they noticed a small fuel leak when the car was being moved that I hadn’t noticed before.
They took a photo which I’m uploading.
They think that a short piece of radiator pipe had been used (instead of fuel pipe) between the two clips on the photo from the tank. That had deteriorated so they’ve replaced it with fuel pipe and the leak has stopped. I’m a bit baffled as to why there is that short section of pipe there (maybe as a reduced between the different sizes?) but was hoping someone in here might be able to advise if this is Ok or if there is anything else I need to check out?
Thank you!
A bit hard to tell from picture, and I can only comment on the Diesel, but I think that pipe is unique in that it is totally different dimensions at each end, main fuel return on the diesel assume same on petrol,
Its not cheap for a piece of 12cm piece of rubber, though much cheaper than a fire
Thanks, you’re right. I’ve since found out there is a specific Mercedes part for this fuel return so know what to get to fix this bodge!
