can anyone advise, i have a 230 ge, whilst replacing petrol hoses to tank noticed a hole in part of the suspesion mounting not the plate above the springs but the other arm. The previous owner kindly filled it it with filler and the problem only noticed when it came off when the jet washer got under it. The plate that the spring goes up to is also showing some signs. The area still has plenty of strength (not off road i suspect) can it be repaired? other side looks fine.

The GWOA has secured two sets of coil spring cups for the W460. These are available for sale to GWOA members only. I don't know whether you are a member or not, but if you aren't this is a pretty good reason to become one. Yoy may contact David Watkins, the Chairman who has them in stock, to check whether he still got them and whether they are the part your're looking for.

thanks i am i gwoa member i will do more invetigating. i took the g to a garage to have a look and they seemed to think there is still plenty of strength in what remains, however to replace the part, they advised would be very expensive as it would require the removal of body parts to do the welding. i would like to have it done properly but i will try to learn more about this area and what exactly is involved in making the repairs.

might be back for more advice in the near future, ilove this car but i have a funny feeling that i am gonna have to learn to weld!!!!

Jonathan,

Send an e-mail to the forum administrator so that he can activate your privileges to access the "members only" section on the forum.

And like I said if you're interested in the srping cups get in touch with David Watkins. These parts are rare as hen's teeth and don't come up very often.

Cheers,
