Evening folks,

I recently bought a 240GD ex miltary vehicle. I noticed that there is a king of fiber coating under the vehicle , about 3/4" thick.

I would like to know ..

if that is normal for mil spec vehicles?

what material is it and what purpose does it serve?

Is it wise to remove this in an attempt to reduce the risk of corrosion of the floor?

I do not have a shop manual yet, anywhere a download for the military version?

A secondary questions is that my headlight seem to not come on. The high beam flashing works.

Are the lights and high beams controlled with relays, if so where about are they located.

Thank you for your help.

regards J

here is a link to a UK seller of ex military vehicles

they should know or be able to point you in the right direction, my guess would be that its for blast protection so unless you are driving around near Trumps new wall or off road in Montana you'll get by without it, but I may be wrong it could just as well be cold weather insulation

Thank you, Crawled under the car today . The area between the frame starting at the firewall and ending above the transfer case. It looks more for sound and heat. If it would be armory I would have thought that it would go al the way to the side of the car and under the seats.

Found an online technical manual for a civil 240gd  in spanish. surprise so I will have some studying to do to see if I can figure out why my headlights do not turn on.
