The original windscreen washer pump (as shown in the photo) for a 1988 460 is apparently no longer available according to dealer.  Anyone got a simple solution/secondhand part from breaking vehicle ? (46023227060781)

Re: 280 windscreen washer pump replacement

They do talk some crap!!!!

Just because MBUK don't have stock, they can't get one ?!? Lack of interest in the G....

Windscreen Washer Pump A000 860 20 26 £48.90 + VAT MB GERMANY have 12

You may need these to make it fit, but they are just Terminals and a Terminal Block...

A001 545 87 26 Terminal Block £1.60 MBUK have 16

A007 545 82 26 Terminal x2 £0.70 each MBUK have 1670

Just in case....

Rear Washer Pump A000 869 30 21 £28.60 + VAT MBUK have 11

Head Lamp Washer Pump A000 860 08 26 £52.00 + VAT MB GERMANY have 2

They are however the same as most 124, 123, 107, 201, 126, 129 and 460 models

Hope that helps

Re: 280 windscreen washer pump replacement

A few years ago I needed to replace the rear washer pump on my 460. Usually a dismantle and clean would get it going again. When it finally failed I scoured the internet for a replacement.

I found lots of cheap replacements (£20 or so by the time you received them) but none seemed to be like for like replacements. So I bought a MB one. Easy fit no messing about and should last another 20 years -  hopefully!

Re: 280 windscreen washer pump replacement

For anyone coming to this thread in the future can I just say that the part number given by Gav is for a pump that is absolutely the same as the original (except made in Czeckoslovakia rather than Germany) and doesn't need the extra terminal connections.  It does however cost £56 which is a lot more than the pumps offered by the other suppliers but as I was in a hurry to get it so that I could get a MOT retest within the ten day interval (at no charge) so took the financial hit.

Young lad, not the regular crew.  Lesson is,all in all, face-to-face is best and not to do things over the phone.
