My 1989 280GE - chassis number WDB46023327065496 is smokey - and as I keep hearing that this month is 'Stoptober', I think it's now time for my G to give up smoking for good!

So, my mechanic is lined up, but said it would be good if anyone on the forum has any useful hints & tips about accessing whatever's needed when getting the head off & stripping down etc before he gets started.

Any pointers would be very welcome.

Thanks - Suzie

here you go:

and:

The valve-seal-replacement  job can be done without removing the head, if your mechanic has some skill and patience. Otherwise, remove the head and send it to a specialist shop to refurbish the whole lot.
