Hi there everyone,

I'm relatively new to the GWOA, and hoping someone out there can help me :)

Earlier this year I got a lovely 1995 300GE LWB version. Its got the M103.987 engine with a 4 speed Auto.

After I got the car back from a major service at the G Class Centre in Malvern (big mistake, thats another story for another day)... the car doesn’t seem the same.

I don't think 2nd to 3rd gear is happening at the same engine speed it was before the service. Seems to be hanging onto 2nd gear far too long now...

All other gear changes are smooth and seem to happen at a reasonable engine speed.

2nd to 3rd gear happens about 2400-2500 RPM - which I think is far too high, changes happen at this RPM regardless of operating temp.

Can someone out there tell me at what engine speeds I should expect a shift up? in all the gears, especially 2nd to 3rd

Thanks a lot

Mine's a SWB and 1993 so obviously going to be a bit different - but just went out for a drive and under steady acceleration change from 2nd to 3rd happens about the same (2,400/2,500). Under hard acceleration that changes to about 4,000 rpm.

Someone will come along soon to give you the correct numbers.

Thanks Mark,

Mine changes around that range as well - but something tells me it should change up earlier - around 1900-2000 rmp when under steady acceleration
