4 way hazard flashers
Gentlemen, I have recently acquired a nice old 1988 230GE and low and behold the hazard flasher is not working. I know that this will fail an MOT however I do have some time in hand. Changing the fuse for the group had no effect, as expected.
Simply put, there is little to this system. There should only be a dash switch and a flasher unit. Where is the flasher unit located??? This has not been found to date and is suspected to be the root cause of my problem. Where did MB hide this little thing? I prefer not to dissassemble the whole dash to locate it. Pointers would be most welcomed. My G wagen is the older 460 series chassis.
Thanks
Gordon
There is a dash panel surrounding the steering column that looks like its in 1 piece but there is a split in the middle and the right side piece is secured by 4 screws so if the flasher unit is the bit that ticks very loudly when you indicate its behind there, just had my ear to it so I'm 95% sure but other contributors will confirm that I am a mechanical imbecile so no guarantees, rog
No Rog it's not in there ( on my G anyway ). Don't know where it is but will probably be in behind the fuse holder somewhere. Someone must have replaced this unit, surely.
I thought the switch was the hazard control? Mine's not working either (and it's not the first to go on me).
Any ideas on this welcomed by me too
Look at fuse box, held in wiv 2 cross head screws. remove screws, remove fuse box, flasher unit is fixed to rear of fuse box. standard hella part so available from most trade motor factors. if any probs with sourcing, bell me on 01684592656 office hours & will post one to you. alternately, let me know sharpish & will take one to the agm which no doubt you will be attending.
