Starter went and straight away ordered a replacement. Received a Bosch unit stamped 0 001 314 027. Finally got around to pulling the old starter and noticed a significant size difference between the old and new starters. You can see how much smaller the body of the old starter is compared to the new one (see photos). The old one is surely not OEM and is marked as Valeo part No. VS250. I tried to fit the new Bosch, and though the interface at the tranny looks correct, the body will not fit in that tight space. Has anyone else had issue with the fitment of the starter or noticed any differences between starter makes? Maybe be able to give me the part number of one that fit?

Funny thing about the old Valeo is when I researched the part number it comes up compatible with a Fiat Tigo 1.7. Seemed to work just fine in the G for several years.

Cheers in advance.

Have you got the chassis number?
