Blower motor out, need replacement part
Successfully withdrew my broken fan and motor and resister from the front, and now need replacements. If I add some short extension cables to the two contacts to the motor and separate the motor from the blade then it should be a quick repair. Wiper spindles seem fine so I'm trying to avoid going the dash out route. Plenty of parts out there ranging from cheap to expensive but can anyone recommend the parts that hit the sweet spot re price/quality? Thanks,
G Motor is A000 830 13 08 Autodoc have a Meyle option around £130
T1 Motor is A000 820 62 42 Autodoc have a Tructec option around £80
Both motors are identical
I would strongly suggest you change the Resistor also bur you wont do that without taking the dash out
Seriously impressed how you managed to get the fan (and resister board) out from the air box!! Tell more when you get done and have time.
I went for the Meyle fan and its fine. I was told you have to heat up the plastic fan to remove it from the spindle, so you can fit the fan into place via the airbox, then re-heat and re-fit the plastic fan back on. I really wasn't comfortable doing that. I tried (half heartedly) and it didn't budge. So I did the dash out.
Agree that it you add additional electrical tails to the resister board, you may be able to fit that back then connect to the blower as you put that in.
Good luck.
... The passenger side was rusted solid. I can't understand how the wiper actually worked! ...
Explains why they seemed very solid ! Both of mine wobbly about (and leak).
Try not to break off too many tabs on the air box since you took the dash out and will split it to put the blower in that way?
If you do, some sealer will keep it together on re-assembly
It really wasn't too difficult. Hot air gun aimed at the central pivot of the fan using some old aluminium sheet to direct the heat did the job. The two clips came off by inserting a small screwdriver into the gaps and levering then out. Detaching the rusty cable clips wasn't easy and in doing so I snapped the resistor board in half. It was very rusty so needed replacement. Dash is all out now pending rebuild, and sorting the wipers out too. Waiting on the parts and hopefully all will be well. Couldn't find any drivers side wiper spindles, but that one seems OK. The passenger side was rusted solid. I can't understand how the wiper actually worked!
