When I bought my G 10 days ago.. the radio didnt work... i figured it was badly fitted... after i got home i noticed the hazard light switch was dead also...and the clock worked now and again... the central locking was also non functioning...but i figured i could sort it eventually.... Yesterday i removed the tool kit to take a wheel bolt out for measurement to buy some locking bolts...  when i took the tool kit out i saw a blue wire hanging down with a cheepo Halfords bullet connector on it... i tucked the wire back up when i put the tool kit back.... today i started the G up to move it out of the way of my garage...and i noticed the radio was illuminated and then i switched it on....it worked... then i tried the dead hazard switch...now working perfectly.... and i thought could i hope to dream other things would be working... clunk...a satisfying noise from the central locking...it works too...perfectly!!   even the clock works now.... was it all down to one wire!!.... gonna get back under there at the weekend with my soldering iron.... am so chuffed... a loose wire.... was all that was wrong...... still no areal.... looks like a powered electric arial... will have a good look at it... was it standard fitted?

what sort of aerial have you got?

Re: Curious blue wire

Sounds like it was an earth of some kind for so many things to be "dead"....

If it looked home made with a HAlfrauds connector on it, it might pay to follow it back up into the loom/dash somewhere and make a *proper* job of it......

....crappy connections always come back to bite you in the ar$e when you least want them!
