CVJoint Replacement
This weekend my G got stuck in the very first patch of sand we drove through. It turned out my front left CV broke leaving me with no 4 wheel drive. Thank God for front diff locks as I was able to lock the front diff which gave me 3 wheel drive in difficult patches.Amazing what a G can accomplish in 3 wheel drive where other vehicles struggle in 4 wheel drive.
But now I need to replace it and it is mega bucks. In South Africa you can only buy the CV with the sideshaft for about 660 pound from MB !!!!
Are there any other non-merc CV's that will fit on the G???
Thanks
Johann
Johann,
I don't know about other CVs that would fit a GWagen, but you can now find new, aftermarket CV joints at a fraction of MB prices. They are sold by:
(Click on the G >> G-Teile neu >> Neuteile Vorderachse >> Antriebsgelenksatz Spidan VA ohne Abs)
The full kit's Part number is 2.11/ Sp-022690 and they cost 210,00 Euro per side.
Cheers
What is your VIN????
Johann,
First check that your front axle number is: 730 301 27 010837
Mercedes doesn't sell the CV alone but the complete halfshaft. That is why it it so expensive.
If your chassis number is the one above then your part nos are as follows (up to axle number 023946):
460 330 25 01 (LH)
460 330 27 01 (RH)
Each retails for € 684.46 + VAT in Germany.
Cheers,
There is most definitely a 460/461 type and a different 463 type (to accomodate for the ABS sensors). But to be on the safe side, I always look up the parts on the EPC with the actual chassis number.
Cheers
Thanks Jesús
I was hoping for an cheaper replacement.Importing it to South Africa will cost me an arm and a leg. I have read on mbnz.org that some CV rebuilders in NZ were able to replace a G's CV with an Audi's CV.
I'll let you guys know when I have found another solution.
