While checking on an AddBlue heater,  I have found out the my 2011 G350 is being recalled for a Diesel Software Update.   I have read more against the upgrade than for it.  One being, the MPG goes way down and possibly changes the engine performance.   I am currently paying I think £575 a year for road tax.  I don’t see that being reduced if I have the software upgrade either.  I find the reason I am paying alot more for road tax than when driving a 1993 petrol 463 crazy also,   The 93 got terrible MPG and was not AdBlue either,

Your thoughts on this is most appreciated.

Barry

Re: Diesel Software Upgrade

I would consider the following: Get the mb ecu update. Then get a proper ecu tune for economy AND performance.

Maybe get the ecu to delete the adblue system. This will ignore the nox sensors and the heater and the adblue injectors will be stopped. Fill the adblue tank up and it should stay full.

To my thinking, there is no emissions access for Euro5 compliance any more. They all want Euro6. So no point keeping the adblue function running o) You will be back to 24mpg and more power when you need it.

Re: Diesel Software Upgrade

Jd.  Did you get the Mercedes Diesel update on your 2012 G?   Is this the same as an ecu update as you mention or is it something different?

Did you also delete the AdBlue system?  And who would do the ecu update to delete the AdBlue system if I decided?

How does this affect passing the MOT?

I am getting around 24mpg with it now!
