Good day all - my first post on the site... and a great site it is.  Thank you for that.

I have two failed diff lock switches (one on each of 2 gwagens) and have had a very hard time finding the parts.  Even going to MB, the part is "back ordered" in Germany (I am in Canada), so delivery is utterly unknowable these days and the cost is, well, significant.  I can find the part on a number of sites in Europe and the UK but everyone seems to be sold out.

Part number is 003 545 58 14.  That changes up to another part with different last 4 digits.  It is a Hella OEM part, Hella number 6ZF 182 914-061.  Originally it seemed to be a Kostal part - Kostal number 03882315 -  but it looks like Hella took over that part of Kosta at some point...

Any help locating a supplier with a reasonable price would be very much appreciated.  Even good used parts would be workable.   Has anyone found another switch that fits this function?

Thanks, Mike.

Re: Diff Lock Switch

Hi Mike,

With the truck strikes/protest for freedom in Canada, it might be even longer!

Firstly, it seems you mean the actual 'actuator' or relay rather than the physical switch on the dash, and its a 463 electronic diff switch part.

https://www.autodoc.co.uk/car-parts/oem/0035455814?search=OEN%2000354558...

(is that it - it says for towbar?)

Maybe C$90 ?  I guess its the time it will take rather than the cost, because even a second hand/used one would be C$30 or so.  But then you need 2, so it adds up.  Lets see if there are any with spares on here?

Re: Diff Lock Switch

What exactly has failed? The switch that is mentioned in the above post I think only does the warning light, on mine wiring broke , it is possible for the diff lock to work if that switch is faulty.

There is a relay as I remember for each diff lock plus a timer relay which is G specific,  other relays are nothing unusual m also vacuum switches, near the brake servo,  again not G specific

Re: Diff Lock Switch

Thanks for the responses!  JDRing - yes, that is the part and you've led me to the most reasonably priced one I've seen.  Thank you for that.

It is just a switch. The hydraulic actuator simply depresses the pin and makes the electrical connection inside the brass body of the switch, which turns on the red light on the dash, confirming that the differential is locked.  The rest of the circuits (the dash switch and relays) are fine.  I removed the whole actuator from the rear axle and removed the switch and tested it to confirm it was just the switch that was faulty.

My Scottish heritage (sorry to all real Scots) even made me cut the end out of the switch to see if I could get in there to repair it - after all it is just the pin pushing in and making an electrical connection.  Alas, no luck on the repair front.

Thanks again.
