Does anyone have 1 x air vent cover and 1 x 280ge badge for sale?
Hi,
Does anyone have 1 x Air vent cover for the back and 1 x wing mirror badge for a 280ge? If so how much please?
Kind Regards
Joe
Joe
I just ordered new wing mirror badges from MB UK for my 280GE and they are only £16 a pair plus VAT..
if you cannot afford them you can have my old ones for free (when my new ones arrive)... they are a little worn... i wanted to freshen up the car , have also ordered the rear door badge...also only £16 plus vat...
Rear air vent is about £12 from MB - our Tech Rep can sort one out for you.
There are a couple of my old ones somewhere on Salisbury Plain in a thorn hedge I expect.
Hi,
Thanks alot that is very kind of you :) Where abouts did you order them from as I may need a few more bits?
Kind Regards
Joe
hi
i ordered them from a Mercedes Benz parts dept near me.. Any branch can order bits for you with a chassis number.. You have to pay upfront in branch.. Or they won't order them.. Mine are being shipped to them from Germany at no extra cost..
Some parts are out of stock though ..forever .. Like the under bonnet insulation panel.. So I'm making one from dynamat..

How difficult are they to fit? I was on the plain the other - didn't see yours. Speaking of the Plain I seem to remember you are on the north side (or the New Forest??) ... have you come a G specialist locally?
Hi Alan
The rear vent is easy to fit - just pushes on.
I am New Forest - South Side. A local land rover specialist looks after my 460. I think there are only about 3 G,s in the area but every other car is a Land Rover.

Panzer (ex-RAC?) That's what I thought but I am damned if I pull the broken remaining bits off! Maybe I am being too gentle? 460 and 463 are different though ...
Hi Alan
On the 460 it is held on on four lugs which slide into four small grommets located in holes in the sheet metal. I have never had to remove mine as they have always been dragged of by thorn hedges!
Fitting the new ones was just a case of lining up the lugs with the holes and pushing in.
Not Ex RAC I am afraid

Thanks Panzer (despite not be Royal Armoured Corps!). I have a feeling that the trim in the back needs to come off/away. Nothing is ever simple.
Push the broken bits IN, don't try and pull them out, they're not supposed to pull out, kind of like a barb. HTH
on the 460 the side model badges on the wing mirrors... pop open door trim at top... remove two retaining bolts for wing mirror... remove mirror... and backing rubber, remove 2 retaining clips on rear badge will come off ( mine was also glued) replace badge (recommend gluing it on as well) replace retaining clip... refit mirror.. careful not to overtighten bolts as it will deform body panel.

Stig - is that on a 463?
Hi I'm reffering to a 460, but I believe the 463 is the same. I found the easiest way is to get a pin punch the same diameter as the broken off peg and just punch it through, assuming it's only the peg left which is what normally happens. You're still having trouble?
Hi Guys
The 460 series employs the grommet and pin set up, 4 per side, the pins are part of the outer trim and break off and stick in the grommets, push thru to remove and then push on new outer trim.
The 463 series however, although externally look similar are in fact different and the outer trim is held on by 2 M5 pan head set screws that come from inside out into the outer trim, access is from behind the rear inner c pillar trim...
Hope that helps

You are the man again - thanks Gav. Quick question - when was the first RHD 460 imported into the UK?
