dvla private plates
Hiya everyone,
Hoping some of you might have experience of dvla number plate auctions.
We have chosen a number and its been passed in to the marketing team to check for availability.
We will be notified when its available for auction but theyve said this can take up to 2 years even if its not currently in use.
Just wondered if anyone has had to wait that long or knows of another way around it
Thanks in advance
Yvonne
Can take a long time for numbers to be released, might be worth trying other site too.
Yvonne,
As a fellow V8 driver. when I applied, I went on to the site chose the number, paid the money and 10 days later t'was on my truck. This was direct with the DVLA, never had a waiting period of that long, but I was not in an auction. Are you sure it is with the DVLA and not a company called dvla or working on behalf of the DVLA?

Hii I had a friend with an odd surname and after enquiring to the dvla if it was going to be available he was informed that it had not been released, but the promised to inform him when it was and told him much the same that it would be at auction.
six months later he was informed by post that mysteriously it was going to auction with a 2k reserve!his name was odd and he was the only one in the uk.
he bought it at auction ended up being the only bidder but with all the extras it stood him at 3k.
it looked really good on his wife's Honda NSx and was clear as day his name.
Until his wife left him and kept the plate.
your plate number had been released long time before you bought it
Yes they will eventually offer the number you requested in auction but only at there own time.
I requested G400 CDL and G55 AMG.
G400 CDL came up a few months later but G55 AMG took 4 years!
HeySpider!
Its definitely the dvla, I've spoken to them several times .
Anything thats listed on their website is straightforward to buy and transfer.
Other numbers may be made available but only by auction.
They seem to do it at their leisure so can take months even years!
Great to see ya back!!
