SO a couple months back my parking sensors stopped working.

Looked at the system and its basically the relay, the sensors and the buzzer.

Checked power and earth to relay, all good, its activated when reverse is selected.

Not much else to the system so i decided to source a replacement control unit. Great when I realised that this is a generic bosch unit fitted to many cars. Ordered one from ebay for around £40... still no good.

hmm... seriously scratching head now as there really isnt a lot to the system. After all ebay sellers can be a bit dodgy eh...

Ordered another relay unit... same..

Ok its not the relay.

Ordered a buzzer kit from MB at around £50 and fitted that, which was a a bit of a job.

No good.

So gave up for a while and just decided to use my supernatural sense of distance. Its never done me wrong so why do I need sensors now.

Then last night I went to use my trailer... Guess what... The last time I used the trailer, I had left the 13pin to 7pin adaptor still attached to the car. When I saw the adaptor I instantly realised what happened.

The car shuts down the sensors when towing for obvious reasons... Just having the adaptor plugged in sent the signal to the ECU that I was towing..

relieved but also annoyed...

Anyone need two parking sensor control units and a buzzer?

On a good note I also changed the heater fan switch and now I have blowers at all different speeds... rather than just nothing or gale force.

If its any consolation the plug adaptor does the same thing with the Range Rover, it also locks the air suspension in a fixed position.

I suspect my new (but un-necessary) suspension limit sensors and ECU were more expensive than your buzzer and relays smiley.
