Hello Everyone

First of all I`d like to thank you for all the very useful topics which I gain from the forum

I am big G wag fan since I was 20 & I must admit it was another 20 years ago

As we all probably know the old, vintage versions of g wagen are not the fastest animals on the motorways these days.

We all get old one day & many of our Gs has got, or will get new hart transplant (new better performing engine)

My question is: how the insurance companies treats G wagens after those operations

Is it costly to insure,???

Has anyone of you had any disappointment dealing with them insurances after transplant???

Thx in advance for all answers

My regards

MiWi

Re: engine transplant & insurance
Hi Well.. I might be about to find out as I have a new engine dropped in. I don't like the idea of driving with any potential issue around cover, but my brothers best mate is an insurance broker so I am in the process of asking him how to approach the conversation. My understanding is that as long as you have not gone mad - and most of the conversions the guys are having done on here are putting current production engines - with alts to make them work Vs massively increase power - into cars that can accept them, then I'm not sure it's a massive problem for them. Writing you car off with un-declared engine upgrade in it is much more likely to be met with a 'Houston we have a problem' moment. If I find out something useful I will let the forum know. Simon

Hi Adrian I agree. it's not the 'if' on declaring to the insurance company - It's the how. Glad this post cropped up as in truth I might have forgotten about it as the car has already had a replacement engine, but as that was a 617 for 617 the insurance company were not bothered (emergency replacement due to multiple head failures - still ran though before going into the garage for investigation) TA Simon

Many thanks for the prompt - Grahame (scouseG) came to look at the car on Sunday - he wanted a drive - so at least I now know where the engine number is :-)) Bet you can do it online now at the DVLA.. must have a look. Simon
