I want to tighten the Axle Hub Nut by the Axle Hub Nut Tool 460589000700

1- What are the steps ?

2- What is the required torque ?

3- What is the final angle of the torque wrench ?

Regards

check out http://4x4abc.com/Mercedes-Benz.G-Class.manuals/bearing.html and more stuff on http://www.clubgwagen.com/gtech.php?sid=listAll&pageTitle=Article%20Inde... Generally re-adjusting worn bearings is not recommended - w460 bearings are a lot weaker than w463

Re: Front Axle Repair

Tighten the first nut by hand (not with a ratchet just the claw spanner in your hand) as tight as you can get it. Then wind it back about 135 degrees, then put the lock washer on and the second nut tighten to about 140nm

You should just be able to feel a small amount of play in the hub

Hope this helps

Thanks G restoration

The lock washer  has two sides, one side is curved with blades and the other is plane without   blades

1-should the blades' side face the inside nut?

2- Does the washer lock both the inside and outside nuts or the inside nut only ?

The photo shows how I installed it.The outside nut was not installed yet.

Re: Front Axle Repair

Hi Ayman

It's hard to see from your photo but I think you have the lock washer the wrong way around. The tabs should point out towards you. The chamfer of the nuts should face each other. Grease the nuts when you install them and the outer nut should have the inner face (that contacts lock washer) sanded a little with some emery. You only lock the outer nut. Hub play should be 0.02-0.4mm (460) after final tightening of both nuts.
