Will any relay do, or is that a special case?  Can MB supply?

Any relay will not do as these are dedicated relays. The relays they have engine cut out to protect against over revving the engine. It could be possible to remove the casing and see if the internal contacts may be cleaned - I can't quite remember.

Re: Fuel pump relay

In case it's of any help Geoff. The fuel pump relay on my 1991 463 petrol packed up a few years ago. I got a replacement on eBay by searching using the part number. I was a bit concerned when ordering but when it arrived I simply swapped and everything was suddenly working perfectly again.

Sorry, it was quite a long time ago and I don't remember who the seller was - my eBay purchase history doesn't go back far enough.

Re: Fuel pump relay

Evening sorry on the delay in replying,, I managed to get a relay sent down from a Merc dealer in Essex which sorts the problem but dents the pocket.. I am certaintly instrested in one of your relays as a back-up as this will be the second on i have replaced..

Also i am after 2 "B" pillar internal trims + 4 window crank spacers + all the covers that enclose the door Opening levers, ( this is just off the top of my head )

If you have any or could point me in the correct direction for  any of the above that would be a great help in  getting her back together again ,,

Many thanks Geoff

Ps let me know about the relay timescale

Re: Fuel pump relay

Hello Geoff,

When you have replaced your fuel pump relay, could I request saving your old one.

My reason, to try and repair your old one; either you can attempt it or I could rise up to the occsassion  without guarantees of course. Think about it. If it works out perhaps it could be resold on our site. I am not looking to pprofit form this exercise - it is for our club.

Thats a great idea, Rajesh.  We could have a 'Part Donor' listing of items that people are happy to donate.  It could just be a separate Forum here.  It would probably only be smaller items, like this.  Any bigger sale, like a G, can go in the Classifieds as normal.

The original owner can even keep the part locally and just get IM'ed via the site if a recipient comes forward.
