Apologies if this a known/easy fix, I did try searching forums first: The windows and sunroof on my 1993 G300 SWB (3-door) stop working --yet generally, if I switch off ignition fully (remove key) and restart, they start working again -- until they stop again a short while later. Very confusing. That the reset can get them going again rules out fuse I think, and impacting all three (two windows and sunroof) rules out switch issue or (if there was any) a sticky relay. Any ideas? just not familiar enough with my W463 yet to make progress on this problem! Thanks.

There is a relay, which allows them to operate without the ignition, if the driver's door is open. Perhaps this relay is failing. I'll need to check the circuit diagram, as to how it may impact your situation.

But the next time it happens, leave the ignition alone and just open the driver's door to see if it makes a difference.

Check your PM.

Thanks - yes when i open the drivers door the windows work! so you were onto the right thing. Thanks for the info. I could not figure out which/part# relay it is or where the relay is located...

Most of the relays are located behind the fuse panel in the passenger-side foot-well area. There are two twist-lock fasteners that allow you to drop the carpet covering to reveal the fuses. You then need to remove the two philips screws - one on each side of the fuse panel - and this will drop the hinged electrical panel, where you will find the relays.

The service manual (check your PM) will show you the details and the relay locations.
