G300TD's
I've been looking for a used G on the various German site's, and have a question about the G300TD's,,,, some have ESP and/or traction control listed in the details,, however most of the adds don't refer to either of these items... Does anyone know if,, ESP & traction control was standard on these models? an option?,, or not available at all... I have a 99 brochure of the G range,, and ESP and traction control is not mentioned... Also,, i'm i right in thinking that a traction control system is a fundamental part of the ESP system?... Thanks

The G300DT never had the ESP (Electronic Stability Programm) fitted, not even as an option.
In fact the German brochure that I have for the 2000 Model Year G-Wagen does not even list it as available (only EBV and ABS). I believe that the ESP, the BAS (Brake assist) and 4ETS (Electronic Traction control) have only been offered, as standard equipment, in all GWagens of the 2001 Model Year, and they appear in my brochure for the Spanish market.
The G300DT was discontinued in 2000. The Range for the 2000 model year was made up with the G320, G500 and G400CDI. In 2001 the G270CDI was added.
Yes, I think that this is because when the dealer enters the data of the car into the website's database they use fixed menus ("drop-down tables") of the options that the car has. Problem is that in these thre isn't an option of 100% diff-locks so they choose the closest options by default (ESP and Traction Control, for example).

there are a quite a few others as well,, you'd expect dealers to know better.. Still,, thats a very nice looking G,,, and only 84000km's,,,, hope it's still there in the new year :D
