Hello,

I bought in Ebay new glow plugs set. It was advertised as 24volt for OM602, but on glow plugs its little blur and seems to be more 12v not 24v.

They are original MB parts A 001 159 04 01 code. Maybe somebody can help with code are those 12v or 24v for it? I`m confused.

Its possible even, somebody bought 12v new engine in Germany, swap glow plugs and then forget or other found it new unused end sold it...

Thanks!

Re: Glow plugs help

The MB part number A001 159 04 01 is 24 VOLT for sure....

If this is off the box then the Bosch / Beru number off the actual plug may help me to cross refer it and see.

Hope this helps

Gav

Re: Glow plugs help

This type of glow plug is widely availble worldwide with MANY part numbers

The dimensions are the important bit NOT the pt no. [ sorry Gav ,excuse the Farmer in me ! ].

Some of the bulbs are thicker than others ,maybe current load also.

They ARE 12v and 24v versions

I have mixed and matched these glow plugs all my life without problem.

They work or they dont.

I ALWAYS put a cheap ebay generic set into a client engine  ,when the MANIFOLD is OFF - all the"'names" are good=- they have to be or they wd not go to the trouble of making them.

You will get many starts with 12 or 24v plugs

CHANGING ! More c/heads damaged due to inexperience than any thing else - I have salvaged many alloy head 6## engines from GUMTREE C250TD's , E300's etc because of failed attempts to change a glow plug !!

This is AA levels if you want a 100% success rate , but FAILURE is not to ashamed of .EASY to round corners of plug hex. for a start , so only the best tools please ,in a straight line ,

Engine , we hope ,is at temperature.May be Hi qual spray { not WD40 ] used ,sometimes repeated applications.

Opinions vary on the next stage BUT all are agree DO NOT STOP turning once moving as it can seize hard.

I use a 3/8 rattle gun with a deep socket and extensions

Whoops - rather bossy tonight folks

and for tonights special , i am using all the right parts but not necessarily in the right order.. to make a bespoke 6 speed gear lever linkage from a clk  fit a g wagen 460 , it will be a wonder if i will be able to sleep tonight.
