It's been fairly quiet here recently so I wondered if the powers that be could update us on what has happened/is happening regarding the previous adminstration and in particular what has happened to the funds that were in the old account?

What, if any, are the plans for the future?

Re: GWOA
As I understand it various folk are working hard to keep this site and its vast fund of knowledge alive. Hats off to them in this sometimes, ahem, challenging situation. That said, six months on from the start of the "reboot" it would be interesting to get even a synopsis of how things currently lie. Thank you.

Re: GWOA

This is timely.

Back in the summer, there was no GWOA administration and the Company overlay was dissolving, with loss of access to the membership funds.  We were able to restore a working committee via a EGM, and gather the reigns of the company from Companies House and restarted control of the website and forum.  We made good progress with all this, managing to submit (late) the annual accounts and made contact with the Bank where the funds are secured.  Getting actual control of the account is taking a little longer but we have a process and despite 2 Company Resolutions on this topic there is one more hurdle to transfer control.  This was on hold during October and November due to other work.

In parallel, we have editorial control of the website, have refreshed the homepage and cleaned some of the ancient material.  Updated photo's from the 40th Meet at Brooklands and agreed a partnership with Adrian Flux for discounted Member Insurance.  We continue to process Membership renewals and it has started to grow again with the slightly more active traffic on the website.

The working Committee have been updated in the process (but last update in October) and having secured the GWOA future the plans going forwards include:

Sourcing a Members pack.  For current members and for new joiners.  We started this and some GWOA funds will be allocated to purchase

Growing the membership, to encompass 460/463 and Gen2 owners.  Maintaining the annual membership at £25 for now.

Curating (closing) some of the Forums - maintaining much fewer general Forums

Organising a UK tour (summer) and occasional meet ups

Restoring publication of a GWOA G-Wizz edition.  A 25th Anniversary celebration.

Planning for migration of the old clunky website, maintaining access to the knowledge base going back 15 years.

An AGM in Spring 2020.

In summary, control is restored, the Association has daily attention, the basic functions are working and there are plans to continue for another 5 years.  Any concerns or suggestions - don't hesitate to make contact and/or get involved.

Re: GWOA
Thank you, John. All credit to those involved in this far from simple resurrection project. My understanding is that a few (very few) folk were silly in the past and abused the GWOA site and some members which was part of the impetus for the birth of the excellent GWR site - which benefits from being fresh, alive and chock full of enthusiastic knowledge. G-Wageners tend to be a little... different...which is A Good Thing to be nurtured. However, we should all respect each other.

Re: GWOA

Well done boys... by the sounds of it especially John!

Great to see that you have got so far... and good luck with the reboot part 2

Nice to see some of the GWOA faithful on the GWR and as mentioned there, I am sure both entities can surive and support each other moving forward with a common interest, especially with their different MO's

All the best

Re: GWOA - Xmas 2019

Happy 2019 Christmas all

Hopefully you will all be enjoying your Gs over the festive period - it never fails to put a smile on my face, especially when I see another coming the other way.

So far, GWOA is afloat. All systems running.  Company/Association/funding safe. Website tweaked and plans to refresh. Planning merchandise.  Deals (insurance) struck. Members engaging.  Still plenty to do!

Here's to 2020 and lots of interaction across all the G communities.

Re: GWOA

Hi Mike,

Well done on the restoration.  Will you be posting any update/pics?

Not sure whose details you need - the S.Ireland group, or here on GWOA?
