After my first G, I swore I would never have another. So, I'm now on my third. My first was a 1987 280GE lwb auto (bought in 1996). A brilliant vehicle, which was off-roaded a lot. However after 7 years of about 12mpg it had to go, to be replaced by a swb diesel. My current one is a 1988 300GD swb manual (bought last year). It's as slow as a snail on the road but absolutely brilliant off-road. It takes a whole different driving technique to the 280GE. I used to think I was a bit of an expert on G's, but it turns out I was just and expert on my own G as no 2 are the same. Before this forum, one used to feel a bit isolated as a G owner. Now we have a community! I think that it is brilliant. I have learned a lot from this foum over the past few months, so I thought it was about time I joined in.

Hello, My name's Mark and I'm addicted to G-Wagens

I was a GWOA member from 1997 to about 2002 (Membership number 237). I let it lapse after that. I went to one AGM - at a place called "High Frontier" just north of Salisbury. It is the only GWOA event I've attended. I'm not sure what year that was - 1998 I think. It was a good event.

I do all my off-roading/greenlaning with the North Devon Off-Road Club (NDORC), which is a loose collective of green-laning enthusiasts, with all manner of vehicles. Mine is the only G-wagen, though.

Cure for adiction???

Mark,

Only known cure for your addiction is to take up your GWOA membership again and start attending the club's meet-ups. See my website for pics of past events and refernece of some in the future.

Cheers,
