Hi - enquiring on the following - am carrying out a conversation

2 - What the best 6 speed gear box for this conversion to go with the engine ?
3 - what the best mechanical pump to use and where can you get it altered?
Thanks
Look on my posts
Sump can be used from om606. People say not but i used mine like that for a while with no issues. Just bore a hole for the rev counter pick up if needed
People say the sump can hit axle but mine did not. jack axles up each side to check for clearance. If not g wagon om603 sump needed and dont forget to change dipstick and also oil pick up pipe for the same items
I would stick with the 5 speed box if yours is five speed and will fit . 6 speed boxes are slightly lower geared and not as strong as a 5 speed getrag box. I have a cdi 6 speed box if you need one thats good. Prop mods and crossmember mods needed but if you can weld and measure well its not rocket science its just time
Do it electronic pump or if you have the money use dieselmekan as he does the best pumps
The pump will be about 1000 gbp with no exchange pump. He make the best pumps out there and they are perfectly calibrated with alda for turbo use
I have one here brand new but fitted to an om606 that was going in a project but i have gone with a big v8
Any more questions just ask away and im sure many will chirp in
Thank you for response on this and your advise .just some queries below on these
- Reference the gearbox - Would prefer a 6 speed - can you advise on what's the best 6 speed gearbox to get for this OM606 engine? and also what do we need regarding the clutch? Do we need to get master and slave cylinder? Do We need to get a flywheel, clutch, Gear stick etc from the same donor?
- Regarding the fuel pump - would prefer a mechanical pump - does that mean the 603 pump ? also my mechanic has raised query regarding MOT testing - i.e can we keep a constant acceleration to maintain a smoke test? as it appears the mechanical pump is difficult to maintain constant revs and can have a lot of smoke during acceleration?
