Key fob stopped working
I dropped my key fob on the ground a few months ago and it has been playing up ever since, taking a few goes to lock/unlock the car and sometimes needing a knock or bash on my hip before it will work.
Now it's stopped working altogether. I've put in fresh batteries but to no avail.
I assume I'll need a new set but thought I'd ask in case anyone has any tips or tricks to bring this one back to life.
cheers
Have you tried to re sync it with the Mirror...assuming its that type.....
Just another thought... assume its the flip out type fob?
If so, used to do loads....the button you press is a simple switch
Soldered on to the circuit board with 4 legs...the come away 1 by 1
if 1 or 2 are loose etc, it will work but intermittently, when 3 are loose very intermittent
When all 4... game over
You can repair them easily, must have done hundreds...first few are tricky though...
Getting the thing apart on the later ones that the cases are bonded are the worse
If its dead, and you can get it to me...i should be able to revive it

Pair of long nose pliers... and a large pair of something else..... you will probably break the first few to pieces ;)
Did the spare key used to work?
Do the doors un/lock manually?
Do the lights in the mirror function?
Hi Sav,
Had the same problem, it depends on the age of the fobs and how much they have been used. As Gav has mentioned they do wear out over time and the best thing is to order new keys/fobs. If the spare has not been used a lot, would suggest changing the batteries (make sure they are the correct ones and in the correct way).

It seems like the problem is not the key fobs but the vehicle electrical items receiving the signal. Do you have the 'credit card' key? That also operates the central locking remotely.
The signal from the key is received by the sensor in the centre mirror. It then sends the signal to the DAS unit. The das unit gets it's power from fuse 26. Check that fuse.
A dealer with the Star diagnostic machine will be able to tell if the mirror is receiving the signal from the key or not. Best to check before buying any new bits
Have you re synced the keys?
Do you know how?
In many instances a faulty key (main key) will throw the syncing out and when you use the spare key its out of sync too
Quite easy to re sync the keys to the mirror
Like Roly says, unusual for both keys to go down together...
More likely a fault on the car side, you must try a re sync first as its free and you can do it!

Cheers Gav. What's the trick to prise it open?
If i cant get it open, i'll send it to you.
