Re: M4.... broken down

There was a guy recently in Oz who took his new G350 out into the outback and his adblue sensor said the tank was empty so it went to limp home mode. Not so good when home is 4000kms away. The anti pollution gear is just so complex and of course it has to shut you down as it's self policing.

Re: M4.... broken down

The sad fact is a great piece of off road kit is being  emasculated by all the electronic gizmo's they are putting in it these days, add that to the fact that the MB accountants are now getting involved with the design input, I just hope that the G does not go the way of a lot of good vehicles. An off road vehicle with 16 sensors in the exhaust pipe alone..... all it takes is for one to be faulty and 'bam' into limp mode one goes.

Mark,

It has to be Euro6 compliant air if you want to enter London or the big German cities. Gosh they will be banning smoking in Trafalgar Square next.

Air? so last century! the new way is nitrogen, makes the car lighter and therefore one uses less petrol!

lol, I know it was last century when we went to school, but I'm fairly certain air is still roughly 78% Nitrogen :)

It's going the same way with Defenders too... now down to a poxy 2.2 litre engine, sensors for everything, DPF (diesel particulant filter) which does a regurge cycle every so often, but not if you just bimble around... you need to give it the beans for 20 miles or so.  great for a Welsh hillfarmer who trundles around.

And the new ones 2015MY have active suspension!  more to go wrong... still, they're ending production next year, so at least they'll go out on a "low" laugh
