Cheers Lenny I found thought another Merc specialist. P&R Autos.. The top man there Paul is a former MB mechanic of 32 years experience .. This guy worked on G wagons at MB Main dealers , has all the tools and experience. And is very easy to talk to.. My G is booked in for next Friday for valve clearance check.. Gaskets ordered and in stick at my local MB dealer.. The few other specialists I spoke to after a sharp intake of breath said they couldn't help / vehicle too old / don't have anyone skilled / no tools for this job.. Paul from P&R was happy to help and told me my engine was in his experience totally bulletproof .. Never saw a failed one.. Just a little noisy compared to newer 463s He went on to tell me he knew of someone selling one soon.. ( don't know the details) Will report when the Gs been worked on.. Looks like a new promising contact in the Guildford Surrey area. Oh and I've been quoted £60 for the labour.. Hour and a half (£150+ ad main dealer ) (£45 gasket kit)
