My G often dosent start when warm
Good morning- my 1988 280GE start on the button and drives fine but often after I've stopped and i try to re-start it (warm) it takes many goes before I can get it to start again (battery is fine).
Any thoughts please?

Probably it could be the pressure regulator close to fuel filter under n/s/r wheel arch (I think). Need a fuel pressure gauge to diagnose alternatively, before starting prime the fuel presure several times. That is to say turn on the ignition and off a few time without starting and then start.
Have the emmisions checked out if the mixture is too lean, it won't start on hot.
Basic check: inspect the distributor cap and rotar these usually need replacing circa 70,000 to 80,000 miles. Check and dry off any moisture in the cap.
Just feel the body temperature of the ignition coil when non start occurrs, if too hot (warm is fine) it is like to be a faulty ignition coil.
Not starting when hot is frequently the fuel accumulator situated under the back near fuel pump and fliter - basically a can with a big sping which keeps fuel pressure up - if it goes bad engine is hard to start when warm
I would say just that - if its starting ok cold an only does id warm id bet on the accumulator
maybe it would start ok if youd stopped it for a few secs (depending on how quickliy the pressure leaks down but really its just a can with a spring behind a seal that gets pressure to hold - not cheap tho prob 150 - 200
Hi Pistonhead- thanks for this, I will certainly do as you've suggested and see what happens.
All the best
