Need help on finding replacement Clutch Master and Slave Cylinder please :)
Hi,
I have taken out my clutch master and slave cylinder and now trying to find replacements for them. No matter where I go no one can seem to find the parts and its always a nightmare find parts for my Gwagon due to it being an import back in about 1991.
Is anyone able to help please?
Its a 280ge W460 1985ish. What other info would you need? the number plate generally brings up nothing helpful on it
Hope someone can help :)
Thanks
Joe
The Chassis or Datacard Serial number beginning WDB460xxxx is the definitive spec of your G.
Try also G:Wagen at Caversham. They were breaking Gs there. I am not sure to what extent they are open at the moment tho, or if the following site is current

Hi Joe,
You mentioned that the vehicle was an import - is right hand drive or left?
It has had an engine replaced - is that like for like but from a saloon?
Please provide your chassis number, gear box number and if you can, the engine number.
What side is your clutch cylinder at?
Why clutch main and clutch cylinder? The both together rarely go, usually it is the one or the other.
Hello Joe,
I think this will occupy you for now.

From any one of these you will need to establish if the parts are compatible to the LHD.
I shall try to get confirmation from my local dealer, failing that I will make enquiries from Austria.
Do not throw your old kit, there are repair kits availble, repair and sell them on.
Cheers.
I replaced both on my w463 some time ago, mine is a 3 litre !manual the parts were from a w124, so not expensive, for the w460 you should be using parts from the w123, they shouldn't be too dear either
questions is the fluid supposed to come out of the end of the slave ,
Only when bleed nipple opened?
Make sure that you have pulled the flange of the metal pipe back hard against the top of the nut so that all of the threads are making contact with the fitting. The other options are that the threads are stripped or that the threads on your new fitting are different from the nut on your pipe. Try and see if the nut will still fit onto the old fitting to make sure its not damaged.
If you are going to remove the rigid pipe to replace the damaged nut you will have to re-flange the end of the pipe when you fit the new nut. Do you have tools to do that ? If you think the nut is rounded It might be easier if you use a set of vice grips to tighten the existing nut and then check for leaks, it doesn't need to be gorilla tight !
Here is a schematic of clutch slave and master cylinder for a 463 which i believe is the same for the 460.
Hi!
Thanks for the reply :)
I've found out just now that the vehicle had an engine change about 20 years ago. The engine came from one of the Merc saloons or estates my Dad can't remember what one so that has chucked a big spanned in the works
