A new Belgian member with a '89 250GD
Dear all,
In my search for fellow G enthusiast i came across the GWOA forum. After a long time lurking around i decided to join the forum.
I'm from Antwerp ( Belgium) and own a '89 250GD cabrio. (460.317) which a bought just a couple of months ago. Still trying to gather as much information about the fantastic G class.
Welcome, and nice truck!!!
Drop me a PM with the chassis number and i will try to find any data i can about it

A Big Welcome from Ireland
Hello and welcome to the Forum,
A lovely looking G - I am wondering if there is a big 4x4 scene in Belgium? Or do you tend to venture further a field to test your diffs?
Does Belgium suffer with high taxes like most of Europe when it comes to G Wagens?
Once again -Welcome

Hi Quinten,
Many thanks for the info, just speaking with other G Wagen owners around the world, sometime the local taxes can really cripple G Wagen ownership!
We did have some great off roading places here in the UK, however the Eco Fundamentalist or 'fundigreenies' and 'bobble hat' Brigade ( Ramblers) have been forcing the closure of the Green Lanes - For example I live in the county of Buckinghamshire, 15-20 Years ago we had over 300+ ancient rights of way/Green Lanes/ BOATS (By-Way Open to all Traffic) and now we are down to about 15. Of course with the Bobble hat Brigade, forcing closure of some of the routs and not actually walking on them, has caused some of the lanes to be lost forever through lack of use, which in turn put more pressure on the ones that are still in use.
We had a fantastic one Called the Ridge Way, which started in Wiltshire, and went through Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Bucks and then connected to the Icknield Way - when I was a younger man, one could almost do the whole run (87 Miles) which was great especially with friends and some nice cool beers.
Hope to see you in the UK at one of our AGM's - then you can show us off Roading 'Belgian' style (like UK style but more chocolate and waffles )
