Hi All

I have owned a 1991 300GE short wheel base for almost two years now. Previously I had a ca 1989 model. I have just joined the GWOA. The 300GE is in very good and original condition and is used as our regular car. I am not that clued up technically, but hoping to improve that! Looking forward to interaction with other G-Wagon enthusiasts. I live in the South East. R.

You've chosen a great version (I wonder why I say that)?

Where abouts in the South East are you? I'mhalfway between Brighton and Eastbourne.

Welcome to GWOA Richard.

SWB is my favourite also, and the 3l Petrol is a good 'unit'.  Hopefully you will find lots of G information here and in the other web places.

Post pics up of your G whenever you get a chance.

Take care

My swb 300e has a K plate, but on consulting Merc it was built in the October of 1991, so it hung around the show room for a bit b4 it was sold or in a storage yard, might be worth checking because it might be older than you think

Re: New member intro with 1991 300GE

Hi there,

Welcome t the GWOA

The SWB 300GE is the one to have .as far as I know they are less of thema around..

If you have any questions or are not sure about something, you can check the forums ,I have found

many common issues solved by checking the old ones.

I have just started using my W463 for the last year or so after a 3 year restoration!(yes it takes that long with mechanics

and then the bodyshop and waitng for parts from MB Germany ( 6 weeks )

There are very many knowedgeable people here, with genuine advice and other solutions for parts as some

parts are very very expensive.

Youre in the right place now!

all the best

Indeed. Parts can be (but are not always) expensive. That said, they last a very long time and, I am quite persuaded, end up being less costly in the long run. How much is a breakdown worth? Good luck with it all and every good wish. N + H.

Re: New member intro with 1991 300GE

Thanks for the warm welcoming posts. The original registration number started with a J (car came with a personalised plate that I would like to put back to the original once I have worked out how to do it), and the information that I have is that first registration was Dec 1991. There are a few minor things needing doing over time on the car and I look forward to interacting on this forum about them.
