Hi guys, this is my first post on here so hello to you all.

I have just bought a D reg 300GD LWB G Wagon. I got it cheap and want to spend a few ££££ doing it up. I have modified a few cars in my time (my hobby) and fancied a new challenge, any help is greatly appreciated.

First things first, the body;

1. I have a plastic grill and head lights surround, I want to change this to the body coloured version - how much will this cost and where is the cheapest place to get the parts from?

2. Front badge
, where can I get one of these from?

3. Dash and Speedo - is it possible to get the new Speedo that will fit my dash?

4. Clear lights and repeaters - where is the cheapest place to get these from?

Also, the diesel engine is very loud, is there anything I can do to take the edge of the diesel noise (don't know much about this sort of thing, apologies in advance)?

I want to get it looking like (if not better than a new one), is there anything i am missing that will inprove the the g wagen

Thanks for your time

Just bought clear indicators and repeaters from MB at Kettering. Total was £43 including orange bulbs.

In all cases, there is no "cheaper place to get the parts from". Either you buy new from Mercedes, or second hand.

Problem is that second hand parts for a 463 model ("the coloured version") are rarer than rocking horse poo in this country because people are not breaking their 463s.

So you best bet is to go to Germany. Try German Ebay:
http://www.ebay.co.uk

Once you have the parts (grill, front badge, headlamp surrounds) you'll also need the front fenders from the 463. I know it is doable but it entails a bit of modification.

Regarding the speedo, even if you could make it to fit your dash (very dificult if not impossible to look right) the connections are totally different so I doubt that you could make it to work.

Again, the best piece of advice that I can give you is to get yourself a workshop manual. The GWOA makes all genuine Mercedes workshop manuals available to its members in CD-rom for a nominal amount. If you want to freshen up your 460, you might consider F.W.Rich's offer in the following thread:
