A few week back my Gwagen began to misfire and die. My mechanic fixed the misfire by moving the distributor but the next day the Gwagen died again it turn out to be a problem with the alternator wires. After replacing the wire my Gwagen now runs with no problem except it seem to have lost quite a bit of power.

Before I used to be able to drive up to 120-130km on the highway and get up hill in 4th or 3th gear. Now my Gwagen takes a long time to hit 120km and now I have to use 2nd or 3th gear when going up hills.

I moved the distributor back to where it was originally but this didn't make a difference. Fuel rely and fuel pumps are both fine. Spark plugs are fine. What other places should I look into?

thanks

Re: Power Loss?

The fact your power loss is apparent immediately after the distributor was turned is an indicator your problem lies there.

Check the ignition timing with a timing light and do check if the vacuum pod is working or not and timing advance with speed. Check for any false air leaks on the induction tract.

Other than that do the basic checks of air filter, valve clearances if you have adjustable valves.

Check for brake binding.

Re: Power Loss?

Check throttle linkage i.e. does full application of the pedal result in full application at the engine component.. this is a common on diesels for loss of power..
