Reverse lamp not coming on.
Check the connection and, or starting inhibitor switch; the reverse light switch is part of the inhibitor switch.
Mounted on the nearside of (Left side - looking from the rear of vehicle) gearbox.
Access to the switch is from underneath the vehicle and at the left side of gearbox, more towards its rear.
Hi Morpheus - you are not getting too many more suggestions :( There are not so many GWOAers on regularly at the moment.
These ones are always tough because it will be something little and yet there is no way to find it except by methodical trial and error.
You already checked the bulb etc but since multiple rear-operations are not working it suggests it is at the actuator end. Find where that trigger/microswitch/relay is and either replace it or bypass it to test? There will be a circuit diagram showing the components involved somewhere. Probably on this site if you search a bit longer?
(Maybe cancel/scratch your duplicate post to keep it all in here?)
Try this GWOA link... its for a G350, a 463. Maybe some good links in here.

Wiring diagrams are in the Electrical section (duh).
Last page, 116, says the switch is on the gear shift lever bracket with a cable connector to the gearbox (X22/2).
No idea what a 4Matic is... I thought all 463s are permanent 4x4 !!
Hello Morpheus
Would PM me your Full chassis number.
As pistonhead mentioned, the reversing light is actuated by the inhibitor switch which is on the left side of the gearbox, it is a plastic lever with circular central part. When you engage the gear this lever also moves forward or backwards. to check if it works try starting the car with the gear lever in any other than park position. If it starts, the inhibitor switch is at fault. if the engine does not start, then the switch is OK. Then try with a multimeter to see if you get any voltage to the reversing light. If you don't , then check the connections to thei inhibitor switch.
Thank you very much for the information. Do I access the switch from the engine compartment or from underneath ?
