Re: Snow tyres? Snorkel?

Come on .. as a West coaster (I grew up Lochgilphead/Ardrishaig) you know a Snorkel for 9 out of 12 months and the other 3 are reserved for midges! Snow down by the sea is limited to a smattering even when the sea loch froze over.

As an adopted East coaster I suspect there will be a a wee bit but nothing like the 2-3ft drifts lasting for a month of old but I guess last year we did get 18" drifts and the ML500 had to tow yet another Volvo - I had chains on all around so it had a fair chance. Last 2 years the wife's cast off Mk1 Rav4 has done snow duty but I have lent it to someone so I will have to get the G out of hibernation. Heck some of the gorse has started flower up here.

As for the South .. a few inches is entertainment but likely a G does not much good as the road is blocked by all the other less capable ones .. I end up on the back roads often as the main roads just stop to a crawl where you wonder when it will stop and all will be grid locked. Heck I often do this with the daily fwd hatch otherwise I'll be doing 10mph up a hill wondering when the one at the front will finally stop. Mind you the locals here do get their mojo back after 2-3 days..

Re: Snow tyres? Snorkel?
I needed my G in Feb 2018 crossing from M6 to Edinburgh. An E class with rear wheel drive only on packed snow was a bit tricky. G would have breezed it. Down Oxford way we hardly see it, but plenty of huge puddles and potholes at the moment - my G needs a tighter fan belt because I am getting squeal after splashing through water. Also, the G profile means that hitting any puddle results in a self car wash - huge front splash always covers the screen. Luckily on the G350 the wiper are auto and good.
