Hi guys, been a while since I had my last G but back on the ladder! I've got an 80's lwb diesel, been stood for a long time. At the moment I'm after getting her rolling and starting, I've checked and the starter motor is seized, best place to source a starter? Also need a brake re-build kit, where can I source this?

Also the whole gear stick has been detached from the vehicle and there seems to be a rod of some kind missing preventing this to be re-fitted. I don't mind buying a few parts to test out but any recommendations on what parts I would need to re-fit this?

Re: Starter motor and brake re-build

You have not mentioned what exactly you want for your brakes.

If you are after reconditioned and on part exchanged calipers then

www.brakesint.co.uk

are the people to buy from.

Brake shoes if needing relining then I would approach a Mercedes Benz commercial dealer to see if he can re-line these for you.

Starters the likes of

http://alternatorrepair.co.uk/

or

www.startermotorsleicester.co.uk

will do an excellent job reconditioning your starter.

The gear lever; I am not sure what you asking for here.

If you furnish your chassis number, I hope Gav Helme if well and fit by now would issue a illustration of the gear lever so you may point out the part you need.

Is the starter seized??

Can you turn engine over on crank pulley

A lot of engines seize with standing. The rings rust to the bores. Hopefully this is not the case

I presume you have checked this already
