The T-Charge is coming to London from October.

https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/emissions-surcharge

Minimum requirements appear to be Euro-4 and you can check your vehicle's compliance here:

https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/emissions-surcharge/vrm-checker

The thing that gets me is the disclaimer. If TFL are imposing the charge, it should be their responsibility to ensure that their information on vehicles is accurate, or at least that  they go by what they publish, such that if the checker says it's OK, you don't then end up with a penalty notice !

(I know it's not OK since i've entered two different registrations for cars with identical engines and same year of manufacture and registration: One is OK and the other isn't ! )

'.....This tool calculates the status of your vehicle based on information you provide and is intended to be used as a guide only. Every effort is made to ensure that the information contained in this guide is accurate at the date of publication; however, TfL cannot accept liability for its accuracy. If you rely entirely on the information contained within the guide you do so at your own risk. It is your responsibility to ensure that the information you provide is accurate.

TfL is not able to offer you further advice on whether your vehicle meets the T-Charge standard. If you are in any doubt over your vehicle's Euro emission standard, please contact your vehicle manufacturer...'

Re: T-Charge

My 1993 300 GES apparently doesn't pass.

Another good excuse not to bother going to London.

Re: T-Charge

Nor does the logic in this charge.

Electric cars are coming. Stop fiddling around the edges and punishing owners of current models. Spend money rolling out chargers and people will naturally swap over. We're really not far from electric batteries charging in convenient times and giving suitable ranges.

By the time Westminster get around to doing some chargers electric sales will be well above 5/8% of all sales and they will be mostly city based one would imagine.

Re: T-Charge

Good news

My vehicle exists and i will only be charged £10.00 a day to visit london.

That helps my decision also not to visit again.

Its all well and good to bring in these new rules but i feel a cut off point should be made. Pre 1993 would suit me. I understand it is for a cleaner environment but not everyone wants to drive a battery golf cart or can afford a new low emission vehicle that is practical

The rail system is overcrowded as it is and cant cope, but they recommend that

Diesel fuel was the way and so cheap. Manufacturers spent billions to produce good diesels so the government made diesel more expensive. Not fair

Petrol cars even with modern management for catalytic converters dont work well until really hot and apparently the emissions and even worse toxic fumes are produced than a vehicle with no catalytic converter at all

If you can afford a big engined un efficient car thats fine like a lot in London. Locals get charged a pound a day. If you live in the zone is it a £365 a year charge or is it covered by cameras only if you drive the vehicle

I see a lot of issues but with all that revenue will they spend it wisely for things we really need

I wont be getting a new g wagon as i have spent too much on mine lol

All good fun though and its pretty sorted now to how i want it. If they did a swb new one i would have to seriously think about getting one

Happy motoring guys

Re: T-Charge

Diesel pollution is a huge problem in all European cities because of the CO2 reduction drive of the past two decades, moves like this will come to all of our cities and rightly so. I live near Swansea, the traffic in the towns centre is atrocious, and public transport is abysmal, the only thing that saves the populous from permanent poisoning is the South Westerly winds
