ULEZ nightmare

Morning fellow members - we live in West London and innSugusy  I'll have to part with my 1988 G (280ge) as it's not (thank you Khan) ULEZ compliant and I can not afford to pay £12.50 every time I drive it around.

Obviously trying to have it converted could be an option (no idea how to get about this abd no doubt uber expensive) or even investigating maybe fitting jump seats to make it a 7 seater  which I heard somewhere might then make it compliant (????)) or just storing it until  its 40 years old (not practical).

Fellow members any ideas?
Happy driving

H

Don't sell!! But I feel the pain. It has to be 9 seats for ULEZ exemption, and you will need to present evidence such as V5 or MOT to TfL showing that to get exempted. Worth trying I reckon. https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/congestion-charge/discounts-and-exempti...

Re: ULEZ nightmare

Adding jump seats to get to a 9 seater is a definite idea and I think would make your G even more valuable. How easy is it to add these and are they available? I don't think they would fit into my SWB G.

My sister lives in Wimbledon so visits to her are likely to become even rarer after August (my G is a 1993 300 petrol SWB) assuming the imposition does go ahead.

Send an email to your MP.

Re: ULEZ nightmare

As a LWB fitting proper factory jump seats would make yours a 9 seater anyway ;0)

The jumpseats in a SWB will only get you to 7 seats as they are singles. TfL need 9.

Re: ULEZ nightmare

Feel the pain mate! Theres a lot going on 'Online, radio debates about ulez expanding.. it needs to stop tbh somehow.

we're london / Hertfordshire way and sept 2023 is going to impact a lot of people.

we own a 2014 G350d and euro 5

I did not have the certificate of conformity but Mercedes confirmed its a euro 5 so not ulez compliant etc.

If yours is a Swb then its a no go as extra jump seats would make no diffrence....

Re: ULEZ nightmare

Wether SWB or LWB you only need 2 seats

Swb are singles so goes to 7 seater

Lwb are twins so goes to 9 seater

Re: ULEZ nightmare

Those late 463's are incredibly rare!

460 LWB ones in large grey check should be half that if I'm good order

Other styles and colours or average or poor condition a lot less

In both 460 and 463, I assume the mounting points.

Are lap belts optional?  They won't get used anyway.

Hi Gav et all

indeed defo will try and get 2 benches - the challenge is finding and cost.

I don't suppose sby point in trying to locate a certificate of compliance at this stage for old Gs?
