W463 rear brakes
I'm struggling to find rear brake parts, anyone know where I can get the following, rear shoes, two hand brake cables, two wheel cylinders, & a fitting kit. Normally when I'm stuck it's back to Bells of Coldstream, but they are closed too. Any ideas or suggestions?
For your brake shoes, fitting kit and wheel cylinders try: https://www.brakesint.co.uk/
Hand brake cable is dealer part only; I am expecting that the dealer don't do it any more or they are currently closed. The cable may be got from S-Tec.
Hi - unlikely to be of any use, but I ordered a pair earlier this year. Didn't fit my 460 (d'oh!), if anyone interested/needing, happy to ship on.
Maxgear 19-0303 - apparently fit the following... (although not promising!)
- MERCEDES-BENZ G-Class Off-Road (W460) (Year of Construction 03.1979 - 07.1993, 72 - 156 PS, Diesel, Petrol)
- MERCEDES-BENZ G-Class Off-Road (W461) (Year of Construction 09.1989 - ..., 92 - 184 PS, Diesel, Petrol)
- MERCEDES-BENZ G-Class Off-Road (W463) (Year of Construction 09.1989 - ..., 94 - 422 PS, Diesel, Petrol)
- MERCEDES-BENZ G-Class Off-Road Cabrio (W463) (Year of Construction 09.1989 - ..., 113 - 224 PS, Diesel, Petrol)
What have i done to upset admin!!!!!
Have messages and responded - hope they fit!
I have used a local Factor to reline the shoes - try that for your area.
About £300 would be a surcharge on the brake shoes which you should get back on their return.
You can get replacement linings from MB, for not much money, comes with rivets etc, then find somewhere that does re lining, classic motorbike mag usually has adverts .
In the old days MB would reline your shoes, but not any longer, you may as well renew drums as well?
To complicate matters, I think linings in different sizes, to compensate for wear on drums, same brakes are used on commercial stuff, only the handbrake cable exclusive to main dealers.
Fitting kit was very good value, but prices were about 8 years ago
Interested to know what the fuel leak problem was? The brakes work is well worth sorting. Drum brakes always have those niggly leaks and seizures. The rest is just minor (but time consuming) fixes.
!!!!!!!!!! Shocking, hope you are doing a proper fix.
Thanks, they can the wheel cylinders but say the shoes are unavailable & will need to be 're lined, part way, thanks again
