What is the hole in 460 bumper for?
Thu, 30/12/2021 - 10:25
I often wonder what the round hole in the rear (off-side in UK) quarter number is for?
I imagine it is a mounting point for a step to reach up to the roof, but why?
Can anyone explain it.

I've never seen another with it... anyone else got a special hole like John?

Could a previous owner have drilled it with the idea of fitting parking sensors - and then given up.

I have seen holes like this usually made on both front and rear bumper. They are placed next to the bumper bracets and are used for lifting the corner of th car with a high lift jack and a round adaptor piece attached. Often there is a steel tube welded in behind the bumper that lines up with the hole.

Aaah... Of such are the mysteries of Life...
This makes alot of sense, and it does (did) look reinforced and it attaches to the ladder frame with the bumber bracket. I know the type of ratchet lift you mean but don't have one.
I can't recall about the left rear - I think that had the lift hole also but was hidden behind the UK number plate. When I get it back, I will double check.
