where's my vin/chassis number?
Anybody know where I can find the VIN/chassis number on a 280ge LWB? Not the rivetted-on plate, but the one stamped on the chassis. I have some fussy bureaucrats who want to see the proper one.

It should be stamped into the outside face of the chassis in 9mm letters to the rear of the front axle, just behind the right hand front wheel. You may have to indulge in a spot of cleaning to find it. Good luck.

Thanks for the tip, I eventually found it located as described but behind the left-hand front wheel. Who knows. I'm all legal and registered now (not that I wasn't using the G anyway)
