won't start
My G300 swb 1991 petrol manual won't start; battery good, spark at plugs, fuel in tank but no smell of fuel on the plugs and no electrical sound of the pump. My guess is either the fuel pump or the fuel pump relay, relay is the easiest but I don't have a schematic or diagram of which relay it is, can any one guide me? I also have a w124 with the same engine, but again no picture of the relays or way of identifying them to do a swap, something that could reduce the possibility's to the pump
Have you tried Jerry wiring the pump so you know the pump isn't seized, they can jam up if they're not run regularly

Got this if it helps for 463
That's it, very early part number so probably the original, which is unusual...
Don't forget the fuse in the overload protection relay too and the relay itself as these also control the pump relay
124 300E pump relay is the same
weather permitting I hope to get it sorted today, swapping the relay with the working w124 will narrow things down but it could well be a case of tapping the pump with a hammer
No need to cry. "Tapping pump with a hammer" is a well known and accepted cure for this problem.
Yes, tapping with a hammer is ok. But once you've started doing it you need to replace the pump.
Remind me to tell you the story of the day my 280E pump stopped working on the M11 at 5pm on a friday... and I didn't have a hammer :(
If you get a fused link you can remove the relay and bridge terminal 30 to terminal 87. This should cause the fuel pump to run continually. If it doesn't then you can go to the fuel pump and check for a 12V supply voltage. If this is present don't forget to check for a good earth. If 12V and good earth available then the fuel pump is defective. If you test it this way you do not need to leave the ignition on. Any questions just give us a call.
If it isn't the fuel pump, it could be the crankshaft position sensor - I had similar symptoms with my G and it turned out to be the CPS as well as a dodgy fuel pump.....
Hi Paul
Probably got a used one if you want it.

Kevin
Have you tried it? That extra PIN will just be dead...
The 124 300E lists same relay for Manual and Auto..

Here's what I have.
just got home from work and needed to jump to the shops so hopped in the car and it's not started, first go and it turned over once then stopped so I waited a moment turned key off and redid it but nothing- starter motor turns but nothing more - it's dark and cold and late so won't bother looking now but will read up now, is this something I should tackle myself or get a mechanic? p.s I drove it yesterday no problems so it's not been sat standing but this is the coldest day i can remember in a while
or fuel pump relay? yeah have messages luke, too late to call him without being rude - would some swine go to the trouble of stealing my diesel!?
luke was straight on the phone after he saw my message, good chap, the engine conversion means there is no relay so it ain't that, will get to the bottom of it tomorrow am sure and if not he's offered to come over - good customer services!
How much fuel do you have in the tank? Plastic tanks can develop a problem with the fuel pick-up such that they effectively run out of fuel at 1/4 tank or less.
Hi Tom, if the engine is swinging and not firing, it's probably one of two things,
- Glow plugs not heating, it would fire a bit with only one working so if it's glow plugs it may be the glow plug relay or it's associated wiring. Is the glow plug warning light lit on the dash?
- Air locked fuel system, The OM606 is prone to leaks which lets air into the system on the engine so that the fuel runs back to the tank overnight , so when you come to start it in the morning the injection pump is full of air and needs to be bled, has Luke fitted a priming pump on your truck? the engine doesn't have one as standard. just the lift pump which means cranking and cranking and cranking to the detriment of your starter and your battery.
Good luck, it will be something simple Luke will get you sorted
Gordon
no not yet, I want to try the relay 1st, I've had them fail on me on other cars with K-Jet
