Hi all - firstly thanks to the committee etc. for a great day at the AGM... however driving home (in the dark so lights were on) after playing in the mud I decided to stop and jet wash the shed - crack crack went both headlight lenses (d'oh and double d'oh, and yes, should know better). Anybody got a spare set, perhaps following an upgrade etc?
Get one job sorted, and along comes another...
Cheers,
Stewart

Hi Just in case nothing turns up, but I am sure it will, I am pretty sure standard golf ones fit - one of the more technical guys on here will advise. Try this link.. http://www.vwheritage.com/vw_spares_Headlamp-Hella-T1-T2-G1-73-93-H4-114... Ta Simon

Or you could break the piggy bank open and get these (which look the same to me!)

.. clear glass lenses .. for a face change ..60 Euro each but make sure they send you RHD ones as I got LHD from "goingfast" on ebay... still got a LHD set actually.

Alternatively if feeling cheap.. you can put new bowl in and fit mini ones.. probably £50 the complete setup and then only £35-40 to replace both pairs = http://www.minitrailers.com/

.. and you can get plastic lenses if you try.. but plastic scratches and clouds up but they don't crack.

I had exactly the same problem with the original lights on my '86 W460.

In the end, I decided to upgrade them to the newer 'clear' versions fitted to 2002+ W463 models which has substantially improved the illumination.

They aren't cheap (around £90 a side), and are glass. Whether you like the look of them is a personal preference (see the PUR edition here upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/fc/Mercedes_G-Klasse_Edition_Pur_20090808_front.JPG )

They are a drop in replacement if you retain the original metal brackets. Otherwise the newer plastic brackets will only fit if your 460 was originally fitted with a leveling system.

Instructions and pictures (including the option to fit levelers if not an original option) for the conversion are here:

Gav,
My originals are Bosch so was hoping to replace like for like (although not overly fussed) - also not worried about upgrading bulbs, I've always found them bright enough (certainly for speeds 330D capable of). Anyway, would be very grateful - easier to pcik up another individual unit later. I'll pm.

Anybody else got a another headlight lens?

Cheers,
Stewart

 Hi Stew-Em,

Was down at G Wagen in Caversham and he has two filing cabernets full of various heads lamps. Give James Lafferty a call -  07887888208. Tell him Joe Askew from the GWOA passed on his details. (he can be notoriusly slow sometimes in getting back to you). If no luck PM me and I will giggle his cage for you.
