235/85 16, I think are close to 7.50 X16 in old money.
Will they fit ok and will they over gear it? Any one tried them?

I used them on my 230 and 240 - Goodyear wrangler Mtr. In many ways they are perfect tyre - wide enough and tall enough without loosing too much in the gearing. As you say similar height to 750x16. Straight fit on standard steel or alloys

Have used them for 10 years , best all round size from mud to motorway and has the great advantage of lowering cruising rpm by 10% over original tyre sizes 205 x 16 etc , as well as a tall sidewall for kerb climbing and comfort .

Re: 235/85 16, ???

Thanks , I was running 225/75 16 as Winter Tyres, then back to the fat 255/75 15 for Summer, unfortunately they are very hard to get now, only KUHMO make them I think? So now back to Steel 16" as I keep cutting the sidewalls up on the 255's down rough track's.
