720108 Gearbox 4-Automatic

My car is
WDB  46033317073432

Transmission P/N :
72010812026224
Automatic 4 speed

I have two problems :
1- It  shifts from 1 -  2  but hardly reaches 3 and sometimes never reach 4
2-  When slowing down  from 3 to 2...1 ... it doesn't work automatically 
 I have to do it manually by transfering the lever
I suspect that some valve is not functioning.

Anyone can help ?

I had slightly different problems with the change- none of the local auto box specialists wanted to know. I gave mine a fluid and filter change - then found a local Pagoda restoration specialist who uses a retired Merc auto gearbox specialist to set up their gearboxes - he checked the vacuum, adjusted a couple of levers and then spotted there was a worn bush on the throttle linkage that was stopping me getting full travel on the throttle - which didn't help. The changes were muuch snappier after that. I guess I've been lucky - whenever I've had an autobox problem, a fluid and filter change has generally done the trick

I am not an expert in automatic transmissions, but I do know the auto. boxes start from second gear unless you choose first gear by the gear selector.  It does not down shift to first either.  You need to check your vacuum pipes for air leaks as the vacuum senses load to enable gear changing, or you have a governor problem,assuming the oil levels are O K.
