Evening all,

I saw this and thought it looked ok. Does anyone know it or have any tips or things to look for when I go and see it tomorrow??

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201124390746179/sort/price...

Any kind of advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

drive it, look for smooth gear changes from the auto box, check the condition of the exhaust, tyres and bodywork and the interior. It should have full MBSH at this price and check the previous owners. It looks a nice vehicle but its top money so get them to repair the paintwork, provide an extended warranty and negotiate very hard particularly as it has been for sale for a while.

this one is half the price and though its not as pretty it will be cheaper to run and possibly sell on, but at £6,000 its no real bargain either.

I think I would probably want to see a fair bit of evidence that it had really only done 59,000 miles in 18 years.

Re: Anyone know this car??

Well, I rang them up to see what I could find out as its 173 miles from where I live...

I asked about the visible paint damage on the front wing/arch...... "Thats all been sorted now" (not sure why you wouldnt upload a new photo..)

I asked about the history and how, if at all the millage can be verified..... "na mate, no history or previous MOT's, got a recipt for one service though"

How many owners.... "3, one of them owned it for 10 years"

Anything else intresting/relevent you can tell me before I make the long journey up there? I asked.. Well, the bodyworks really good and the interior..... well the bodyworks better than the interior.....

I suppose it could be a really nice genuine car that has had the misfourtune of losing all its history, but how does that saying go..... If a G class looks too good to be genuine.....

Shame though, its pretty much spot on what I am after (3 door, black)

I probably wont go to view. I think I was (nearly) fooled buy the nice colour combo and the AMG goodies (as pointed out by another member on her, cheers Pete).

Thanks for your replies and messages, you might just of saved me £11k and the embarresment of coming on here bragging "Lokk what I got, its all black and Shinny!"

If you can hang on for a few weeks, mine will be up for sale , its in the paintshop at the mo having a full respray. its had one lady owner from new, got all mot's and tax discs, is a 92 300gds manual in met red with 93k on the clock and drives superbly. i'm looking for about 7.5k. if you are really interested i could get the painter to change the colour to black, before he puts the red on but that would be a bit extra.

Hi Ian,

yeah i do like the met red, however the lacquer has lifted on most panels so it has gone in to be repianted. i'm also going to have the G colour coded, bring it up to date a bit.

Have you tried getting the VIN number? I am not sure, but some members can look at the MB data base thingy and you can see what it would have come with?

But 11K as pointed out, you wold expect FMBSH and the orginal steering wheel! (I am sorry, that put me right off...)
