Re: chassis paint colour

The chassis is coated with special preservative in the factory before assembly...periodic coats of "Dinitrol" keep it in good condition..the body paint code is  impressed onto a plate next to the vin/chassis number on the front of the heater air intake duct behind the engine in the engine bay

Is Dinitrol the product they are now using for the new Electrodeposition process?

Re: chassis paint colour

Any mercedes bodyshop should have a primer sytem called spectroflex made by spies hecker their approved paint system, its a coloured primer system, one of them will match the chassis colour or sure.

You can search on spies heckers web-site, just look for the colour finder link it will let you into the full resource part of their website where you can search for every colour they have ever made!!

Hope that helps some, sorry i cant help further I havent picked up my G yet.

Just as a side note you can mix hammerite smooth colours like you would the above paint system, you would be able to make the colour yourself with abit tinkering, it is thinable with paint thinners, then you could spray the items you are working on. You would get a gloss finish though, is the chassis and parts a matt colour?
