 Guys,

I've just put the OM603a engine in my W460 swb. The angel of the engine seems a bit strange...

Does it look correct?

What engine mounts have you used?

Worth just refering to a couple of recent threads on the subject of engine swaps. Its quite common on this kind of swap to cut, refabricate and drop (down, sometimes back too) the mount points on the chassis when doing a 603/606 conversion.

Re: Does this look right?

Hi Bocaj

What has that engine come out of?

Is it a 3.0 ltr or a 3.5 ltr?

Is it replacing an OM617.931 300GD 5 cylinder NA?

I assume you have used the mounting brackets that came with the OM603a?

Do you have the engine number?

OM603.960, OM603.961, OM603.962, OM603.963, OM603.970, OM603.971, OM603.972

I agree with FCP's comment with reference to the OM606, but i have not seen a OM603 point so far upwards, certainly not in NA form anyway, not seen a OM603a in a G.

Cheers

Gav

Re: Does this look right?

 The engine is a OM603.960 from a W124.133 (300 turbodiesel)

I was lucky to find a OM603.931 from a w463 300 Diesel, so I fitted the oil sump, the oil pick up, engine brackets and some other bits onto the turbo engine.

I have used the factory fitted rubber engine mounts from the old OM617 engine.

As I see it the engine brackets should place the engine in the correct position as the OM603NA and the OM603A engines are very similar.

I have dry fitted the inner wings and the radiator today  just to see how it looks and to be honest - it does not look too bad. The bonnet does close as it should without touching the engine, so I'll guess it sits OK.

Next is to sort out the throtle linkage and the exhaust - seems like a big job, any tips or tricks are more than welcome
